To help you do that, as a class, we will read Atomic Habits by James Clear (2018) and hold weekly book club meetings to discuss how to make 1% improvements one-day-at-a-time, we can develop productive, professional skills that will last a lifetime.

Task:

  1. Read Chapters 17 & 18.
  2. Write a blog post in narrative (paragraph) format replying to the following questions:
    1. As recreation professionals, boredom is a concept we deal with often. What does the author say about boredom and its impact on building healthy habits. Using his recommendations, give an example of a work habit that you have experienced boredom and identify how to overcome that in order to retain the “good” habit.
    2. Consider the concept of an “accountability partner”. How might you use this concept when working with clients?
