Throughout all four years of high school, I only took one art class since it never fit in my class schedule. Because I enjoyed that class and the art classes I took in middle school, I planned on learning more techniques and earning more appreciation for art in college. Therefore, I had very high hopes for this class, and while I enjoyed the projects we did in and out of class, I wish there had been more hands-on exercises and less art history lectures. The class required a large sketchbook and various other materials; however, I was disappointed at the end of the semester to see that I had barely filled the sketchbook or used any of the materials. Nevertheless, I did learn a great deal of interesting art history and analysis methods which i hope will come in handy in later classes.
The artifact I chose is my first sketchbook assignment from September 21, 2017 in which the objective was to use the fundamentals I learned in class to create a doodle or basic drawing as a form of self expression along with an explanation of what influenced me to draw it.
