I have learned so much during my time at Longwood University. I have greatly enjoyed being a member of the Cormier Honors College and the Longwood’s Nursing Program. Both the Honors College and the Nursing Program have introduced me to amazing friends and incredible professors who have helped and encouraged me throughout my years at Longwood. I have been greatly challenged academically through both the Honors College and the Nursing Program. Despite the challenges, the nursing courses that I have taken thus far have made me even more excited to continue my nursing education and begin my professional nursing career.
A couple of goals that I had for myself when I was just beginning my education at Longwood University were to successfully graduate Longwood with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing, and to graduate with Honors. I have put a tremendous amount of work into making these two goals reality over my four years at Longwood University, and I am happy to say that I am on track to fulfill both of those goals by May, 2018. I look forward to applying the knowledge I have gained here at Longwood University to my professional career as a Registered Nurse.
Part of my senior year has consisted of an eight week internship at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in the Critical Care Unit. This has been a great experience, as it has helped me practice and implement all of the nursing skills that I have learned over the past four years of nursing school. The internship has been a great way for me to transition from nursing school to working as a registered nursed. I have learned so much in just a few weeks of interning, and I have grown to be much more confident in my abilities.
Longwood University and Farmville have serviced as a wonderful home away from home for four years. I have grown to love both the university and the small town. I will forever cherish the years I have spent at Longwood and the countless memories I have made. Despite how much I love Farmville, I am ready to move on and see where my education takes me. I believe that Longwood has set me up for success, and I am excited to start the next chapter of my life and begin my nursing career.
