Scholarship

Cormier Honors College

My membership in the Cormier Honors College has given me countless opportunities here as Longwood University. I have befriended dozens of Longwood students due to my involvement in the Cormier Honors College, and it has given me countless opportunities to give back to the Longwood community and town of Farmville. The Cormier Honors College also focuses on the importance of scholarship. Honors students must maintain a 3.25 GPA in Honors coursework, maintain a 3.25 GPA overall, complete a Longwood approved and credit-bearing study abroad program, complete eight honors courses before graduation, and complete a senior-level e-portfolio.

Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society

I was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta during the second semester of my freshman year. Alpha Lambda Delta is an honors association that freshmen with a GPA of 3.5 or above are invited to. Alpha Lambda Delta focuses on academic scholarship and service.

Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society

Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest and most selective multidisciplinary collegiate honor society. Phi Kappa Phi focuses on both scholarship and leadership. I was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi in 2016.

Nursing Honor Society

I was inducted into the Nursing Honors Society in 2016. This society accepts the top third of ever nursing class.

Dean’s List

I have made the Dean’s List every semester that I have attended Longwood University.

Nursing Peer Tutor

In the Fall of my senior year I applied to become a nursing tutor. I got the job and spent the semester tutoring sophomore nursing students. This was a great experience, as it allowed me to form a bond with some younger students in the nursing program, give some insight on how to best approach difficulties they were having in their classes, and help them better understand the information that they were learning in their classes.

Publication in Incite: The Journal of Undergraduate Scholarship

In March, 2018, I was informed that an essay that two of my peers and I wrote titled “Effects of Intergenerational Daycares: Parents’ Perception of Early Childhood Socialization with Elderly Populations,” was selected to be published in Longwood’s annual issue of Incite: The Journal of Undergraduate Scholarship. Our essay also received the second-place award.
