Goal 4 – The Creative Process

MUSC 222 – Rock Music and Culture

The class covered the basic elements of music: melody, harmony, timbre, rhythm, instruments, and form. Once basics of musical elements were covered, a sequential historical approach and cultural implications of Rock followed. I become familiar with the conditions by which music is valued and appreciated – aesthetic consolidations of Art in general and became conversant in areas dealing with “quality” of arts presentation. I learned to describe and interrelate the origins and elements of Rock music and culture, including musical components and comparisons with other popular musical forms.
