Honors History 222

During my time in Honors History 222, I learned about history from the 1800s to current historical events. In this class, I had class discussions, annotations and Discussion Guides on the readings and notes we took in class.  For the final project, I had to create a BuzzFeed article on a topic that I believe needs to be talked about more. In the Buzzfeed article, it had seven entries that had to be from the class. Along with a paragraph about the topic, it had to include primary sources from class notes and secondary sources from videos and books. For my project, I did it on minorities in America. For my first entry it was, The New South and Lynching. In this entry, I mainly explained how African Americans were being wrongly accustomed to crimes and then being sentenced to death because of those allegations. My second entry was about, Native Americans and the West. For this entry, I mainly explain how Native American children were being sent to boarding schools to try and assimilate them. My third entry was about Immigration. This entry mainly was about how immigrants from other countries were coming to America and being wrongfully treating because they were “stealing” American’s jobs. My fourth entry was about, The Black Freedom Movement. This entry was also about African Americans and how years after they had gained freedom years prior they were still being wrongfully treated. My fifth entry was about, Women’s Suffrage and how for years women were fighting for the right to vote and finally in 1920 women won the fight. My sixth entry was about, Social Movements of the Late 20th Century. This entry entailed how in the 1960s people were being considered less than others based on their sexuality. The seventh entry was about, Feminism and Women’s Movements. This was about how women were looking for more equal opportunities in the homefront through an equal share of housework. Overall I think this class helped me realized that history doesn’t just stop in World War II. I learned about countless events that I had never touched on in High School and it was a huge eye-opener to what has happened in the past decades.

Attached is my final project.
