Aesthetic Expressions MUSC 224

This class goes over the stylistic eras, major composers and compositions within Western European concert music tradition.  I love music so this class was extremely interesting to me.  The studies included listening to different styles of musics throughout different eras and hearing the differences in instruments, volume, speed, and the stories behind the composition.

One of the requirements of the class was to go to different musical concerts throughout the semester and write a reflection about the concert.  This was my favorite part getting to hear musical instruments or hear people sing.  It also got me comfortable with Longwood’s campus being a freshman at the time.  Even after the semester ended, it inspired me to continue to support Longwood students and watch them perform.

During class time the professor would play a composition through the speakers and we would have to analyze the piece by listening for volume changes, instrument changes,  and why we thought the composer chose these certain aspects.
