The document below is a reflection I wrote on Social Control.
Sociology challenged me to change the way I viewed the world. I had to look at multiple perspectives on a subject before I made my own decision. The class had a project where we interviewed an individual on their perspective of the Prince Edward School closings or lasting effects of racism in the county. Interestingly, my group’s interviewee also read the book that the class was reading, which provided a commonality between us and her. The class was also tasked with challenging social norms through breaching experiments. One of my experiments turned out to be a failure.
I participated in an Honors section of SOCL 101 as a part of an honors interdisciplinary link course.
