BIOL 399 – Evolution
Evolution was a great first-pillar-course that I took this spring. Other than not helpful group partners, there isn’t much to say about this class. It was challenging at times and I definitely do not this my Intro to Ecology and Evolution class gave me a proper introduction to evolution (basically all ecology). I, as well as the other few honors students in the class, felt as though we were the most inexperienced students in this class as we were the youngest and had not taken any upper level biology courses yet. If I were to take this class again, I probably would not make it honors and have waited until I took developmental biology first. Though I ended up with an A in this class, I think developmental biology would have helped me succeed even further. For the honors part of this class, we were required to read another companion text. In BIOL 399, we currently read Your Inner Fish and the textbook. Dr. Frannsen wanted us to read The Human Advantage to see if it would be an appropriate companion text for the class. In the end, we definitely chose Your Inner Fish over The Human Advantage due to THA being way too specialized in neuroscience. Below is the final poster we presented on research day.
