BIOL 251 – Introduction to Ecology and Evolution
I may have said this about five times now in this ePortfolio, but, I really mean it this time: BIOL 251 was the most challenging class for me thus far. I honestly don’t think it would have been that bad if I wouldn’t have taken the honors section of the class, but now I’m glad I did it because *spoiler* I’m presenting my bird research in Boston this fall!! Overall, the content of this class was not challenging it all. The real challenge of this class was the research element. Aside from the semester long project, I was required to do a normal lab once a month AND an honors research project. That honors project really pushed me over the top in this class. Miscommunications caused me to do it completely wrong the first time, which made it take even longer, and it was just a lot of statistics that I wasn’t prepared to stay in the library until 2am to do. Luckily, my professor, Dr. Henk, was very understanding and worked with us when we were struggling. I definitely wouldn’t have been able to do as well as I did in the class if it weren’t for him. Attached is the final poster that I am presenting in Boston this fall. I researched bird migration patterns in Alaska.
