Reflection:

This assignment gave me more experience with different genres that I was less familiar with–especially the Bad News letter. Before this class, I did not have experience writing a Bad News letter in a proper way. Now, I know how to deliver bad news in a professional way, which is definitely important and useful.

This assignment also helped polish my use of rhetorical strategies such as ethos, pathos, and logos. The Persuasive Letter was a really good assignment to practice these with because for a good Persuasive Letter, a good combination of ethos, pathos, and logos is needed. I already have had experience with Persuasive Letters, but this class has furthered my knowledge on how to use these rhetorical strategies to create a strong persuasive letter. These assignments, especially the Persuasive Letter, expanded my knowledge of how to use research. A great way to use ethos, pathos, and logos is to use research to strengthen those strategies. In my persuasive essay, I did research on how many wrecks are caused by potholes, and I used that to strengthen the emotions felt by the reader of the letter.
