CGPS Graduate Assistant

Standard (150 hours/semester), Fall 2024 & Spring 2025

The College of Graduate & Professional Studies (CGPS) Graduate Assistant will work in collaboration with the Director of Graduate Student Services to research, create, and implement support initiatives for graduate students. The GA will serve as President of the Graduate Student Association (GSA) ensuring compliance with approved regulations and procedures. The GA will assist with various projects, research, and reports as well as maintain an active presence in GSA social medial accounts and the CGPS Slack channel. The GA will provide front line customer service over the phone, via email, and by greeting guests visiting the suite.

Counselor Education Graduate Assistantship

The Graduate Assistant for the Counselor Education program will assist the program through tasks related to program recruitment, marketing, data collection and management, research support, clerical duties, and other special projects as assigned. The candidate should be organized, creative, and able to work on and off campus. Candidates should also be available to attend events on and off campus as needed. Lastly, candidates should be personable, outgoing, and able to form and maintain relationships with students, faculty, and Longwood officials.

Writing Center Graduate Assistant

Standard (150 hours/semester), Fall 2024 & Spring 2025

The GA will be responsible for working with graduate student writers on their writing projects. This most often involves reading the piece beforehand, then spending 30 mins with the student in a virtual meeting to collaboratively go over their project with them. After appointments, the GA will then fill out a client report form and send a survey to their client. The GA MUST enjoy talking one-on-one with peers and have a solid background in writing. Writing Center experience a plus.

Center For Cyber Security Graduate Assistant

This GA will provide administrative support for the Center for Cyber Security. The GA will help plan and execute events such as Cyber Summits, cybersecurity competitions (both online and in-person), engage with external stakeholders such as local high schools to plan recruiting events and other community outreach events. The GA can also help to track internship and job opportunities for students in both ISCS and CS, and disseminate those opportunities to the appropriate students.

Call Me Mister (CMM) Graduate Assistant

Cormier Honors College GA

Mental Health Awareness Graduate Assistant

This graduate assistant position is funded by a mental health awareness training grant. The primary, defined task will be social media management targeted to promote suicide prevention efforts, create awareness of available trainings, and disseminate anti-stigma messages and community outreach activities. This includes the responsibility of tracking the utilization/ visit rate/responses to the social media platforms. Additional tasks and duties will include general support such as document organization, records management, and training session preparation.
