I’m embarrassed to say that I wasn’t very involved in community service in high school. I would love to change this trend throughout the next few years. I plan to do so through some of the many organizations at Longwood which offer community service activities. I am, for instance, in the process of joining the Big Sibling program. This program is a different kind of community service in which I will be assigned a little sibling who is at risk. These children don’t have the support they need from family, so my goal is to make my “little” feel supported and encouraged. I hope to get further involved, but I am unsure of what kind of service I would like to do yet. I’m excited to see what kinds of opportunities I find when I return to campus next year.
