ART 213

Pictured is my final project from Ceramics I this year. I had taken two ceramics courses in high school, and I was very eager to add to my skill set. I, however, did not imagine that I would fall completely in love with the art form. I learned how to wheel-throw pottery in this class, a skill I did not previously have, and I decided to use this  in my final in order to demonstrate my progress. The incorporation of body parts into the work was inspired by research of African pottery, which often depicts humans in abstract form. My favorite subject in art is the human form, so I was able to satisfy my desire to use that subject as well as draw inspiration from ancient techniques and tradition.

I am extremely proud of my work from this class, and I am excited to continue my work in this field.
