ART 324 – Papermaking

During this course, I was definitely pushed outside of my comfort zone. I am very used to research papers, studying anatomy, learning bodily processes… not making paper. I had to tap into my creative side, which was really not easy since I am so used to learning objective information. In addition to learning about how paper is made, I also learned a lot about myself. For one, this class really made me realize how much of a perfectionist I was. Also, this was one of my most difficult semesters mentally for personal reasons, and this class really helped me channel my feelings and figure out what was important to me.

In this class, I learned about the general process of making paper, different kinds of paper, and different methods and means of making paper. I got the chance to make pieces of paper and envelopes, a group project, and an individual project relating to my major. My pieces from the group project are below.
