One of the most rewarding courses I have taken was the Borderlands Brock Experience which fulfilled one of my perspective level courses. This also counted as my study away experience. Borderlands was a course that took a group of Longwood University students and faculty to Tucson and Nogales, Arizona for a week to study topics such as ecology, sociology, political science/government issues such as immigration and so much more. Once there, however, we encountered so many other cultural experiences such as the art, food, people, music, native culture and more. One issue that was not necessarily on our radar prior to the trip, ended up being the focus of my final assignment for the course, the drug epidemic. This issue was only compounded with the homelessness issue and the jailing system. Read my editorial on this issue below.
