One of the main reasons I chose to continue my education at Longwood University was the genuine sense of community you feel just by stepping onto campus. I am lucky enough to not only be apart of the Longwood community, but also an even closer community through the Cormier Honors College (CHC).
One way that the honors college sponsors this sense of community is through the annual honors leadership retreat. Here all the first year honors students are paired with a mentor and complete a weekend full of fun and challenging activities that build strong bonds between all the members of the CHC.
However, students are encouraged to be active members of the entire campus community, and I have joined multiple organizations on campus. These include the Honors Student Association, the Club Swim Team, Stampede Pep Band, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and the Alpha Chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma. I know I play an important part of all these activities, as well as the role I play on campus, both of which will help me better understand and participate in my role as a citizen leader in the world.
