Study Abroad Reflection

During these difficult times with COVID, I could not do my study abroad in person. Because of this, I did a virtual study abroad through the HAN University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. This course is 1 credit and is called Intercultural Awareness. There are people from Australia, South Africa, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, and the United States of course. I have learned about several cultural aspects such as nonverbal communication, the mode of observation, and the differences in cultures relating to individuality, high v. low context communication, and low v. high power index. I am really enjoying learning about other cultures, and I have learned that one should be okay if they are open to answering questions from respectful curious people as long as they are also open to being respectful and curious themselves.

I have not yet completed the course; it ends on June 4. I will upload my final project when the time comes. 🙂
