History of Music I

In all seriousness, this was the most challenging class I have ever had to take. It covered a lot of information about the music from Ancient Greek and Ancient Rome all the way to the Renaissance Era. As a music major, this class was required for the degree, but it also counted as a Perspective Course. This class reviewed the evolution of musical notation, the different styles of music in different parts of the world, and how those styles evolved further into different musical eras. This class also focused on many important composers and musicians, and – in some cases – how historical events altered the music, like how new churches decided to change their style of music to be easier for the congregation to sing.

The following is my final paper about Johann Sebastian Bach and his vocal music. This was the final project for the class.
