In my first semester at Longwood, I took PHIL 320, Markets and Morals, with Professor Adam Blincoe. This class was amazing. I have never learned about the different kinds of markets before, nor have I had a discussion-based class. It was really interesting to hear other people’s points of view on the subject of economic markets and the morality behind them. The class focused mainly on socialism, distributism, and capitalism. Because I have never learned about these before, this class was particularly challenging. However, I learned a lot about economies and how they view autonomy and judgment of each individual.
The following is one of the research assignments about the advantages and disadvantages of socialism. The research part of this class really helped me learn all that I could about the information that the class covered. It gave me a lot of different points of view throughout the class. There were three annotated bibliographies for this class – each one focusing on a different economic system.
