This was my favorite class of the Spring 2021 semester. This class taught me a lot about teamwork and collaboration. It also taught me about the public education system as well as a little bit about the private education system. I also learned about laws such as the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, which later became the Every Student Succeeds Act under the Obama administration. This class also taught me about the priorities of the education institution through different time periods, the hardships of teachers, education reform, and about Prince Edward County’s importance through 1959 and 1964.
Together, the entire class performed a qualitative research project that was presented on Research Day. Each student performed a semi-structured interview with a public elementary school teacher to discuss the successes and hardships of teaching during the pandemic. Attached is our video presentation.
