Service

While there is not a service requirement for the Cormier Honors College, students are constantly encouraged to serve their community and are provided countless service opportunities. Because there is no requirement, students are not forced to do community service and can explore service opportunities when they are available and find organizations that they are passionate about. During every semester, I try to give back to the Longwood and Farmville community as much as I can, even if the service opportunity may seem small. One of my favorite service opportunities to participate in every year is the Honors Retreat at the beginning of the year. For the past two years, I have been an Honors Mentor for the Retreat. During the Retreat, incoming Honors Freshman as well as current Honors students give back to the community through a variety of opportunities. For example, my freshman year I volunteered with Clean Virginia Water Ways and as my time as an Honors Mentor, I have volunteered at a variety of locations around Farmville such as Heartland Horse Heroes.
