Community

Community is not only an important aspect of Longwood University as a whole, but of the Cormier Honors College as well. When I first came to Longwood, I was told that the Honors family is your first family and this is absolutely true. No matter how involved a student is in the Honors college, the Honors faculty and Honors students are always there to help each other. One of my favorite things about the Honors community is that even though I do not know everyone, if I recognize a student from Honors in one of my classes, I immediately have a connection with them through Honors. I have met some of my best friends by sitting next to them in a class because I recognized them from Honors events and did not know anyone else in the class. The Honors community helps to create an environment where students feel welcome and know that they will be supported or able to receive help with whatever they may need.
