Hello! My name is Haley Schweigert and I am a member of the Cormier Honors College here at Longwood University. I am currently a Junior and an Elementary Education major. Along with the Cormier Honors College, I am a member of the Longwood Ambassadors, the organization that gives tours to prospective students and families, as well as Alpha Lambda Delta, a freshman honor society.

I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. In Kindergarten, I would play school and teach my friends or family. However, it was not until I was in the sixth grade that I realized I wanted to be an elementary school teacher. From that point forward, all of the experiences I have had, from volunteering with different age groups with a variety of organizations to interning in a first-grade classroom during high school, has only made me realize that being an elementary school teacher is my dream!

I chose Longwood University not only because it is the best school for future teachers, but also because I felt at home from the minute I stepped on campus for my first tour. During my time here so far, I have fallen even more in love with Longwood University and cannot imagine calling any other place my home!
