Letter to Senior Self

Dear Senior Haley,

Congratulations! You successfully made it through four years at Longwood University and I could not be more proud!

I just finished my freshman year of college and it was amazing! I could not have asked for a better experience. I met so many incredible people who I am so thankful that I get to call my friends. This year I joined the Honors Student Association and was elected Secretary, as well as joining Alpha Lambda Delta, an honor society for first-year students. Throughout my first year, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA and have definitely come out of my shell more than I thought possible, even though there is still a ways to go. I have formed so many great relationships in my first year alone and cannot wait to see these relationships grow though my time at Longwood and after, as well as the new relationships I will form along the way.

By the time senior year arrives, I hope you enjoy being at Longwood as much as, or even more, than you did your freshman year, which will not be hard. I know that during your next three years you will do great things and I cannot wait to see everything you accomplish! I hope that you will be just as excited to apply for graduate school and stay in Farmville for a fifth year and you were to apply to Longwood University in the summer before your senior year in high school!

I have so many hopes for your years to come at Longwood. I hope in your next three years you will continue to open up and come out of your shell more. You have grown so much just in your freshman year and there is no telling where you will be by your senior year. I hope that you continue getting more involved on campus and in the community, whether in the organizations you are currently in or by joining new ones. Most importantly, always remember to continue finding new ways to get outside of your comfort zone. Do things that everyone, including yourself, would not expect you to do because there is honestly no better way to continue to grow.

Continue making the most of your time at Longwood during your next three years. Do not forget to make time to have fun. Continue building life-long friendships and relationships and participate in the many amazing traditions that make Longwood the best university. Try to enjoy all of your classes and remember to always do your best, whatever that may mean. You made it through your freshman year and have already accomplished many great things. There is no telling where you will be by senior year or what all you will have accomplished. I cannot wait to see everything you do! See you in just three short years!

Love,

Freshman Haley
