This general education course revolved around the facts and details of biology, human and non-human. This class was very interesting to me, and sparked many questions. Many of our more interesting topics included Blood typing, Cancer, and Genetics. The artifact I chose to present to represent this class is a information sheet we were prompted to create to inform the public on any topic of our choice related to biology. For this, I chose to analyze Schizophrenia, and create a fact sheet on its biological links and treatments. I chose this topic because I have a psychology minor, and was also taking Biopsychology at the time. I saw a link between the two courses, and found it fun to make something that is relevant to both courses, as it could help me study for my Biopsych final.
Schizophrenia, Emily Mothersbaugh April 29, 2019
This sheet provides factual information on schizophrenia, and was designed in hopes to provide legitimate information on the mental disorder in order to inform individuals who know people who suffer from this disease and to help them understand the struggles and characteristics of it.
This course was fairly straightforward, but interesting and helped me challenge myself to think outside the box and link the material to other courses I was taking simultaneously. I hope that in the future semesters ahead, I continue to do this with other classes that I take. Short term, I hope to continue my effective study methods that I discovered in this course. I used many concept maps to remember key terms and orders of information, and it is my goal to continue this next semester.
