Intermediate II Spanish

Goal 10

I have always enjoyed Spanish classes, but I was not particularly fond of this class. It could of been that I haven’t had a Spanish class in four years or it could of been it was Spanish at a higher level. I liked the professor, but I just didn’t like the material because I learned it so long ago and I tested into a higher level. I feel like she didn’t really teach us anything new and when we did start a new lesson we had to learn it on our own and not in class. When we were in class we would start with a warm-up and then do a couple exercises and not really have any lessons. I thought that the online homework was a big help in retaining information because it was a lot of review exercises. Usually in Spanish classes there are a lot of speaking parts in front of the class, but it was usually with a partner so it made it a lot more comfortable and my partner was advanced in Spanish so he gave me good feedback on my answers. I’m not really sure if I learned a too lot in the class, I just feel like I’m at the same spot I was before the class.

This is a five page research paper that we had to do as a final paper. We could pick any topic relating to Hispanic culture or history. I thought this was a dumb idea because we had shorter papers such as two pages and I would look at the average scores on them and they were significantly lower so why would we have a longer paper if we weren’t doing well on shorter papers. I couldn’t even write five pages of information because I was having such a hard time. I could’ve went to her for help, but I was very busy at the end of the semester and I needed to focus on more important classes. I also chose a topic that I’ve never heard of because I wanted to learn something and I think that hurt me as well writing the paper. She said I had great sentences and information, but I did not have enough because it was supposed to be five pages. I ended up getting a 75 on the paper, but it still kept me at my same grade I had the whole semester which was a B.
