Service

When someone thinks of “service” they may think “volunteering” or “community service”. Community service is good in itself, but that’s not how Honors Scholars may interpret it. Members of the Cormier Honors Scholars look for ways to do good in their community and to their fellow peers. To serve is to help others, but service also helps you grow as an individual.

From the time I began Longwood and Cormier Honors College, I have been emerged into the act of service. Throughout my years at Longwood, I plan to continue to serve my community and fellow peers. During my freshman year at the Honors retreat, my service project was to join the Movers & Shakers and assist with move-in. Since then I have participated in Relay for Life (raising money/awareness and walking) with the Student Nursing Association (before switching majors), community service for Alpha Lambda Delta, and I will continue to participate in service through NSSLHA (National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association) through the rest of my time here at Longwood!

Service opportunites are abundant for Honors Students. We are made aware of opportunities through the weekly newletter. There is always a way to get involved, and I will continue to serve throughout my time at Longwood and in the Honors College!
