Goal Three: Culture through Literature

In world literature, we explored how the culture and history of a country shapes author’s writings. We explored similarities and differences of cultures through literature. In this essay resented, I observed oppression of women in Nigeria through the book The Bride Price by Buchi Emecheta. I specifically state oppression is shown through Nigerian society’s social norms, universal lack of women’s education, and Aku-nna, the main character, experiencing frequent abuse.
