Goal 12

Goal Twelve: Ethics

Often  times difficult conversations such as race, diversity, and ethics are not discussed in a deep insightful manner. Individual’s backgrounds influence them to think one way or another. In the classroom environment people shy away from intense conversations with the fear of being judged or creating tension. This class was taught by an amazing professor, Dr. Paul Barrett, who encouraged conversations in a way where sharing and discussion was encouraged. I realized that coming from a northern state and a home location close to a major city shaped my opinions much differently than most members in the class. While I did not agree with some of the statements they made, I listened to every word said and took it as a learning experience and was fascinated about different opinions and thought processes.
