Reflection
In Honors English 201 World Literature we spent most of our class time analyzing the literature that we read as homework assignments. We compared different translations of books such as The Iliad as well as analyzed different aspects of the literature and what influenced them when they were written. The paper I wrote comparing translations of the same passage from The Iliad relates to the critical thinking of how different wording may have possessed different connotations, leading to different meanings depending on when it was translated. Looking back on this assignment I wish I had looked deeper into the connotations of the different terms and how they may have differed purposefully in order to fit the social constructs of society when they were translated. This provides me with a new goal of trying to dig deeper in my research for future papers in hopes of seeing things from a more critical perspective.
