Reflection

In History of Rock much of our time was spent listening to and dissecting music from different time periods. An example of one of our assignments is posted above, we would create google documents and use them to discuss different aspects of music, including any events of the specific time period that said music may have been referencing or how the music itself may have influenced the social events of the times. These assignments greatly encouraged critical thinking beyond just listening to the music we learned about. Looking back on the assignment as one of the earlier ones, I feel that I learned over the course of the semester to read into the lyrics and melodies of music more. A goal I have after taking this class is to analyze music I hear today and try to interpret it on the deeper level I did throughout the class.
