In my Citizen 110 course, Social Entrepreneurship, I learned what it meant to be a social entrepreneur and how to impact our society in a positive way by tackling problems head on. This was my first Honors class at Longwood, and my first class at Longwood in general. I really enjoyed this class, and it eventually became the course I looked forward to attending the most. The professor had a strong passion for what he was teaching which made the material all the more powerful. This led to a classroom environment that created several thought provoking discussions. My class was small, so it allowed us to have an overall strong classroom experience.
In the final project for this course, I was able to create a solution to a personal problem myself and my peers had found with our society’s healthcare system, and it was so empowering for me to create something alongside peers with similar experiences. We presented this poster at the Honors Symposium on research day, which outlined our vision for a mobile healthcare unit that could combat the current problems with America’s healthcare system.
