Community is everything to me. I come from a background of very close-knit communities. Without a strong, welcoming community I struggle to find my place and I do not succeed well. I knew wherever I went to school needed to have a focus on community, and Longwood fulfilled that need way beyond my expectations.
I was beyond scared to go away to school. No one I knew was going to Longwood, and I felt extremely alone. As soon as I got to school, the Honors College gave me a sense of belonging. There I was, with tons of other kids I shared commonalities with. The Honors College is led by people who truly care about the students and foster an environment that becomes a home away from home.
Longwood itself is one giant community. The opportunities I have been given have allowed me to create strong, impactful relationships with so many different people, students and adults alike, and I am forever grateful.
