ISCI 361- Protecting Life on Earth

I took this class during the Fall 2019 semester. It is all about what we have done and can do in the future to protecting all species on this planet. It was an interesting experience for me because I am not really a science person, but once we got into the material for this class I liked what we were learning about a lot. It is not a theoretical area of science, but a hands-on area of science that we can apply to events that happen to us everyday. We did not just sit and hear the professor lecture at us, sometimes we would watch videos or do interactive activities that showed what we were being taught. Something that challenged me was having to do a few presentations with a group of three other people because I am not much of a public speaker. I had to speak up a little more. I did my best to do just that and do my part in the group projects. Sometimes, some group members were a little behind the others, so I would try to help them by writing down an idea I had for their section of the work. They would either go with that idea or not, but the work was getting done to the best of all group members abilities and relatively equally. We were not leaving it up to just one person to do all the work, everyone was pitching in. When it came to presenting our powerpoint, all group members, including myself, did so with as much confidence we had in what we did. With these presentations, I gained a little more confidence, but I know that there is still work to be done to become better at public speaking. While gaining new knowledge about how we protect the species on this planet, I learned that I am a team player and I can become a better public speaker. This class showed me that I can always become better at the abilities that I am taught. Below is one of the powerpoint presentations I did as a group project for this class.
