History 221- US History Colonial-1877

I took this class during the Fall 2019 semester. It was not a hard class for me because of how I was already pretty familiar with lots of the material. US history has been taught to me since the beginning of my time as a student because it is that important for students in US schools to know. What this class did for me was allow me to hear the more detailed versions of what I had already been taught, so that I could see how US history is complex. The class allowed me to become a better writer of history. There were three written assignments I did in the class where I had to pick one issue out of a few in one of the textbooks to read and then write about what different authors thought of the event. These written assignments showed me how to look for the point of what the author or authors was making according to historical evidence. They also showed me how I did not need to use many quotes to illustrate what I was trying to say about what I had read. These assignments taught me how to write title pages well and put in page numbers too. I learned more technical skills that will help me be a better historian in the future.
