Service

Service plays a major role in my life on campus, as well as a part of the Cormier Honors College. From the start of the Honors Leadership Retreat (which was during my first three days here at Longwood), I have been involved in service projects. All the honors freshman participate in a service project on the retreat; I was able to go to High Bridge Trail. So far in my time here at Longwood, I have also participated in the Honors Service Retreat to Hull Springs Farm and had the chance to go to FACES, Farmville’s local food bank. As a part of the Honors Student Association, I have also been able to volunteer at our booths during Relay for Life, Oktoberfest, and Spring Weekend. Each of these experiences have been humbling and I cannot wait to see what other projects I can be involved in during my next years here.

During my sophomore year, I have had the opportunity to serve as a senator in the Student Government Association. From this, I have been able to meet tons of new people (including other honors students) and connect with other professors and faculty members that I otherwise wouldn’t be able to connect with. I wouldn’t trade my SGA experience for the world and am happy to say I was elected Executive Historian for the 2018-19 school year.
