Math 171- Statistical Decision Making

I took AP Statistics in high school and absolutely hated it. I was very nervous for this class because I did not like statistics and I was not good at it either. I chose to sit at the front of the class so I would pay more attention and hopefully understand the content better. Luckily, my professor broke everything down in a way I was able to understand.

The first day I knew it would be a good class because Professor Stanton began with review and terminology so that way we would be able to understand all of the equations and wording we would be seeing. This helped me a lot throughout the course because I would constantly go back to my notes from the first day if there was a term I did not know. As the course went on, it began to become more difficult memorizing the different formulas and when I had to use them. This class really made me have to practice a variety of problems over and over again until I knew when and how to use the formulas.

One thing I had to do in this math class that I never had to do in high school was write a paper. At first I was so confused, I had no idea how I was going to write a 3 page paper on math and how to calculate something. Luckily, professor Stanton was there the whole way and was open to answering any questions I had. Below you will see one of the papers my group wrote for the class.

Overall, I am very grateful I took this class and I would definitely recommend Professor Stanton to anyone who has to take statistics. She is the best and will help you throughout the whole course. I would not have done as well as I did in her class if it wasn’t for her ability to break the content down into small chunks that I could understand.
