When I first came to Longwood, I was so nervous about starting all over and creating a whole new life for myself. Little did I know, I would find not only my closest friends, but more accurately, my family within the Cormier Honors College (CHC). During the honors retreat, I made so many connections with so many different people I otherwise would have never crossed paths with. By the end of that week, there wasn’t a doubt in my mind that I had found my home for the next four years.
Wanting to get more involved, I joined the Honors Student Association (HSA) and met a group of great scholars who strive to challenge and encourage each other both in and out of the classroom. This gave me the confidence to join other organizations I was interested in and also take on leadership roles within. While I was thoroughly involved in high school, I was now eagerly motivated to step outside of my comfort zone and take a more active part in the community.
I am so grateful for the unique sense of community I’ve gained from the Cormier Honors College and for the incredible people I get to surround myself with everyday and call my family.
