I have had to perform in numerous professional settings during my time here at Longwood. This ranges from showcases, to research meetings, to presentations and interviews. This is a skill that I have grown a lot in, thanks to Longwood. This goal is a bit hard to choose artifacts for, but I chose presentations that I have done in professional settings to reflect my growth in this area. One of them is my final presentation for BIOL 251, intro to ecology and evolution. My group and I had to dress professionally and present this project to faculty and students at a project showcase. While a bit intimidating to do, I am proud of how well I did.
Another professional presentation I have had to do was in my BIOL 488 class, senior capstone. We have presentations almost every week, and it is expected that they are professional in manner. I chose this particular presentation because I am very proud of how it turned out, and my partner and I received the highest grade in the class for this presentation.
Both of these presentations demonstrate my growth in performing in a professional setting. This is a skill that will greatly benefit me in my journey to veterinary school, and even as a licensed veterinarian. Veterinary school is very professional, and of course, being a veterinarian is a professional career that I will have to perform will in.
