Goal 6: GNED 162

GNED 162 was a class that I took during the winter intersession of my freshman year. This meant that I had to complete all my work at home, with no assistance from my instructor. I could email my professor, but there was no face to face contact at all.

This class was a mixture of lecture and lab. There were modules posted online that I had to watch and then complete a quiz. In addition, there were labs. Any materials that were needed for labs were sent home in a box before the break started.

I was not a fan of taking this class online. I didn’t like that I was not able to talk to an instructor on a regular basis. While it was hard, I learned to figure things out on my own.

Above, I have attached a picture of part of a lab. I had to take pictures of the results from many of our labs and submit them because my professor was unable to see them in person. The idea was that I was to test soil with different solutions. This was one of the labs that I had difficulty with. The problem was that I was unsure if the colors were correct. I feared that I did something wrong to mess the experiment up. In the end, my results turned out to be correct. This class taught me that there was not someone that was always going to be right next to me every step of the way. In order to move forward, I became comfortable with being independent and trying my best. I will take this lesson and keep it in mind for the remainder of college.
