Math 121 was a requirement for my major. When I added my math concentration, I found out that I did not need to take this class anymore because of the concentration. While this was frustrating, I still enjoyed the class and was excited every Tuesday and Thursday to attend. Overall, the class was very easy and not challenging for me. I had learned most of the material in high school and even some in middle school, so it was basically just a refresher course for me.
Although it was easy for me, it was not easy for some of my classmates. These classmates were also in Honors and lived in Wheeler, so we studied together. I did my best to explain the concepts and answer any questions that they had. I really enjoyed helping them.
Even though at the beginning of this class I was set on being a teacher, the experience of helping my peers made it real. Not only was I having fun and practicing for the future, but I was helping my friends to be successful at the same time.
Our end project was one where we could work together. The idea of the project was that we took our knowledge of Math 121 and turned it into a real life example. I enjoyed getting to see how the math that we were learning could be applied to real life. In the future, I hope that I am able to incorporate real life examples into my classroom, so that when my students ask, “When will we ever use this?” I will have an answer. While the project was a bit more challenging than the rest of the class, we got through it. Since the work was handwritten and turned in, I have included the introduction to our paper. The introduction was a collection of paragraphs from each of my group members.
