Book Club Week Five

Criteria for Success:
Chapters 10,11, 12 and 13:
a. Leisure education is used with virtually every RT client. Using the idea of increasing friction towards bad habits and decreasing friction toward good ones, explain how you might use this concept in the facilitation of RT services with a client from your mentor’s agency.

Being that my mentor’s facility is an assisted living agency, the first thing that comes to mind when reducing friction if that had a goal of socialization or social skills, when walking or riding since some are in wheelchairs to rec therapy group, they will say hello and ask 3 people how they are doing today. Or if a goal was engaging in more activities with more participation they would speak up or take part more in the activity or they lost 10 minutes of tv watching on their free time.

b. Consider your own work habits. How might you use the two- minute rule to stop procrastinating in your work?

The two minute rule states that “when you begin a new habit, it should take less then two minutes to do.” (Clear, J, “Atomic Habits”, page 162) Looking at the statement something I feel I should do and want to do is to improve my procrastination habit I have by checking my email 24/7 and checking in on my blog/canvas every day. BY doing this I won’t get behind on assignments and end up leaving all the work until the last day. BY checking my blog I also ensure my assignments are getting proper comment response and I am good at replying to and getting the fixes completed in a decent time so I can move on to the next assignment.
