Book Club Week 8
Chapters 19,20, and Conclusion
A. Consider all the concepts shared in this book about building better work habits and breaking down bad ones, share at least 2 concepts that will “stick with you” and that you may use going forward in continuing to develop professional skills. Explain your response.
a. One concept that will stick with me moving forward will be to “make it obvious” for making the habit more in your face in a sense. This concept is a great tool for incorporating a calendar, sticky notes, to-do list and even a memo on a phone or computer. This gives you something visual to know what you should be doing and when you should be doing it so that you can’t use the excuse I forgot. A concept that could be used to break a bad habit I have, that is being on my phone so much even when doing assignments for school I tend to want to pick up my phone and look on social media because I get stressed or frustrated with the assignment, so I need to make it hard not easy when it comes to putting down my phone. If I leave my phone in another room where I can’t see it and where I won’t want to get up and go get it because the walk is more trouble than it is worth. This way it is hard for me to check or reach so I am less likely to be tempted to pick it up while working on an assignment. In the classroom I could tuck my phone in my book bag and move my book bag away from me so it is out of reach and I can’t get it without someone noticing which will keep me from being tempted to be on it while in class.
