Junior Remote Internship Goals
During my internship, I want to:
1. Create time management skills to stay on top of tasks and responsibilities as assigned by academic and mentor.
2. Develop communication skills involving clear, concise details when communicating with my mentor by email, phone call or zoom call.
3. Gain experience in the therapeutic recreation profession and apply what was learned in academic classes.
4. Establish a strong relationship with my mentor to establish a rapport and network with a professional in the field.
5. Confidently and precisely present plan and program ideas to my mentor that could be relevant to the agency’s/facility’s population and potentially implemented at the agency based on general needs mentioned by the mentor.
6. Increase knowledge about the assisted living population including the common diagnosis, dietary restrictions, and prescribed medications used to treat symptoms associated with the diagnosis that can be helpful in my future career as a RT.
7. Improve on leadership skills and add creativity when implementing and developing activities for the clients.
8. Research a new program for clients to enhance a healthy leisure lifestyle and encourage recreation participation to present to the agency and mentor.
9. Familiarize myself with the variety of programs offered by conversing with my mentor and fellow therapists at the agency along with reviewing the monthly calendar.
10. Become more comfortable taking risks and asking questions to improve the quality of service and care I am able to provide to my future clients.
