I chose to take Math 121, Functions and Graphs, to fulfill Goal 5. I took a similar class in high school, so I assumed I would be familiar with most of the material presented. I was correct in that I knew how to solve the equations and graph the results, but I had never thought about writing real world equations prior to this class. Our final project involved us to write about a real life project that we would like to see modeled with a mathematical equation. I enjoy theme parks and have worked at one for several years. This led me to wonder about an equation that would reflect expected revenue based on attendance in a day at a theme park. I did not expect for my functions and graphs class to have me considering an equation that had real world application and was interesting to me in my personal life.
