I took Organic Chemistry during my second semester at Longwood. This class was very challenging for me. It especially challenged my academically. In order to succeed in this course I had to rethink my studying tactics and from new ways to apply what I have learned to realistic situations. Like in Chemistry 111, we used the questing system to test the knowledge of the students which I enjoyed because it tested me on 2-3 specific topics each time. This was a course that I really struggled with transitioning online because of how hard it was to learn, even in person. This course challenged me a lot because I was used to often memorizing concepts; however, I had to apply concepts to a specific problem in this course and figuring out a specific way of how to solve a problem when there was multiple ways, or if it was open ended it was difficult. The beginning of the semester went well, I passed all of the quests, but it went downhill once we were sent home for COVID-19 and there were no in person classes anymore, just videos to watch and learn. The videos were just as if he was lecturing in person, however it was missing the questions other people and I asking throughout the class period that helped me learn from a student’s perspective. I included my first quest we took in which I passed.
