Sophomore Fall

Similar to last year, I volunteered for the Student Nursing Association’s Haunted Hospital Event. This year, instead of doing more of the background work and helping set up with decorations and planning, I decided to be an actress for the event. Before the event began, I helped to do my makeup as well as some of the other actors. We had to decide amongst ourselves who would be the best person for the job. this is similar to nursing as for some procedures, the most experienced nurse would be needed as compared to a novice nurse. After getting into costume, I had to find a space within the haunted hospital to scare the patrons. I found a location and with the help of the other people scaring in the room, we developed a plan of how we would scare them and what each actor or actress would do. Developing plans is a large part of nursing care as the healthcare team works together to create a plan of care for their patients. This professional event helped to emphasize important skills of delegating tasks to the person most qualified and working together to develop a plan.
