Junior Fall

I was extremely passionate about this event. I am one of the founding members of Greeks for Change, an organization designed to provide peer to peer education about topics important to the Greek community. One topic that our group decided was important was the topic of drunk driving. During the planning stage of the event, I helped to create pamphlets that contained statistics like how many people die due to a drunk driver each year. When creating these pamphlets, I researched a variety of different sources. In the nursing profession, we often have to provide resources to patients and it is important for the resources to be from valuable, accurate sources. When researching for the pamphlet, I used skills that I also used when completing nursing research. After completing the pamphlet, we developed a plan of how the event would run. I helped to call multiple vendors to find drunk googles and a golf cart for us to use in the simulation. Calling people is an important part of the nursing field as we often have to contact doctors, pharmacists, or other healthcare professionals through the phone. I used similar skills to professionally call the vendors as I would when contacting other healthcare members. At the event, I helped to hand out the pamphlets and provide education to people interested in attending the event. this was similar to how I would provide education to patients as a nurse. this event helped me to utilize skills that are important to the nursing profession and helped me to develop professionally.
