I took Biology 114 my second semester of my freshman year and it was a class that I really enjoyed. We did a lot of hands on activities that we can change and fit to our future classes when teaching science. Every one of our labs was created in a way that we can use as reference in planning and teaching lessons in the future, which I found very helpful and interesting. One thing that I found extremely helpful and fun in this class was our SOL project. For this assignment we were split into groups and we had to create a lesson, make a lesson plan, and put together everything we would need for our lesson. Then, during one class period we had children from the local elementary school come in and we got to carry out our lesson based on the SOL we were assigned. This was a really fun activity and it taught me how to write a lesson plan which will be useful in the future, as well as gave me incite into how to set up a lesson to keep the children interested. In my reflection, which will be attached down below, I discussed the struggles and successful things about our lesson, which I feel will help me in forming future lessons when I have my own class. This class taught me a lot about hands on activities that encourage the children to want to learn. It provided me with many skills that I can put into use in my future classroom.
